Bag Lady: Mikhael, Prop Stylist

WHY HOZEN?

I love everything about HOZEN, I think I have a Canteen bag from one of the first batches and I still get compliments on it wherever I go. I love these bags for their thoughtful design, from the material, production, and intention behind the product. I love the unique shapes of all HOZEN bags but my favorite detail is the rounded strap. There is beauty not only in its design, but also in the quality, utility and longevity of the line. Beyond the great design, I feel like I had a front row seat to HOZEN's inception and I am so inspired by the line's founder, Rae.

DESCRIBE YOUR LOOK.

Levi's and a white linen t-shirt with tennies. I have a few jumpsuits in rotation because they are infinitely helpful working on-set as being both stylish and utilitarian, and easy dresses on the weekends always, thanks to temperate northern California weather. In general my style is casual.

IDEAL DAY?

A beach day with my family. Preferably an obscure northern Marin (CA) beach or a sunny day on Cannon Beach (OR), where no one else is in sight. A day's worth of snacks, beach blankets, sand toys, a ball for my dog, and the calming ocean air.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR DOWN TIME?

Downtime is a far off dream at the moment, but when I did have it, I would opt for a stack of magazines and a coffee, or a long hike with my dog.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Travel is a major inspiration. And with my limits of kids and a job, travel can even be a simple road trip. I am inspired by the hunt, which translates to scouting antiques or finding new ceramicists or artists. When I've been able to hop on a plane in the recent past, a trip to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and another to Mexico City was so energizing creatively. Last spring (2019) I was in CDMX and we averaged walking about 8 miles a day, there was so much to explore and see.

FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD?

An empty beach.

GUILTY PLEASURE?

Peanut M&Ms. Incapable of opening a bag and not finishing the entire thing (and yes I'm talking about the "share" size)
