Rae NicolettiRae Nicoletti is a designer who has committed to bringing compassion to the accessories space through the use of animal-free, cruelty-free, and ethical materials, manufacturing, and production.

Rae’s journey toward sustainable fashion began during an internship at Kate Spade in NYC, where she went on to hold various creative positions over six years. Ready to expand her horizons, she headed west to join Restoration Hardware as a photo prop stylist in the Bay Area. Bringing the company’s epic catalogues to life inspired Rae to seek out other forms of art, and she enrolled in a year-long program at Amblard Leather Atelier, a school run by Hermès master artisan Bea Amblard. Over the next 12 months, she immersed herself in classes on hand leather work, pattern making, and handbag construction.

Though Rae had already adopted a vegan diet, working with leather—an industry rife with animal cruelty, pollution, and toxic chemicals—added a new dimension to plant-based eating. Knowing she could never again use the material in good conscience, she graduated Amblard’s program determined to make her mark in the vegan accessories space. She spent the next eighteen months scouring the globe for sustainable alternatives not only to leather and traditional petroleum-based vegan leather, but also to zippers, thread, lining, tags, and packaging. Opposed to all forms of cruelty, including labor and economic injustice, Rae sought to incorporate ethical production as part of the core of her new business. She has been proud to partner with locally-owned, fair-wage manufacturers in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Today, Rae continues to be driven by an unwavering respect for all life and draws inspiration from the inherent beauty of nature. As founder of a mission-based brand, Rae respects and supports businesses and individuals who stand up against the injustices they see in the world. In 2019, Rae was inducted into the Female Founder Collective, a network enabling and empowering female-owned and led businesses to positively impact communities, both socially and economically. Rae’s work has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, the Los Angeles Times, Goop, and Cosmopolitan.
